The Westview Observatory is a private, amateur astronomical observatory currently making use of a Meade Schmidt Newtonian telescope with an 8 inch mirror (at F4). For visual observing, Westview Observatory uses its Mallincam Xtreme astrovideo camera which allows for excellent observations even in this highly light-polluted region of West Central Ohio. Long exposure images are made through a Canon DSLR camera that has been modified for astronomical use.
Images featured are mostly not copyright protected; and are thus available for download and for use by the general public. The goals of the Westview Observatory are to promote the love of astronomy and an appreciation for the beauty of the universe. Viewing sessions (star parties) are sometimes available for interested individuals or groups, with priority scheduling for Scouting groups, church youth groups, and groups from local schools.
